Navigation Street Bridge

ROD-IS recently completed a commission by Skanska UK to review past assessments of the Navigation Street Railway Bridge in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The bridge in question was built in the 1960s and consists of a mix of construction types including concrete-encased steel beams, reinforced concrete slabs, pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete. The structure has been the subject of many assessments from 2004 to 2013. The purpose of the review was to appraise the suitability and benefits of carrying out a probabilistic assessment/analysis in order to achieve a higher load rating for the structure, thus minimising the potential requirements for replacement or repair of the bridge or elements thereof.
