Roughan O'Donovan Innovative Solutions (ROD-IS), is a subsidiary of Roughan & O’Donovan Consulting Engineers (ROD), one of Ireland’s leading civil, structural and environmental consultancies. It was established in 2009 as a collaboration between ROD and two academics: Eugene O’Brien, Professor of Civil Engineering at UCD, and Alan O’Connor, Professor of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, and brings together over thirty years of research in bridge & structural engineering in the fields of loading, design and assessment.
The purpose of Roughan & O'Donovan Innovative Solutions is to provide a consultancy outlet for this advanced research and to provide opportunities for Clients to avail of these innovative services for the design, assessment and whole life optimised management of new and existing infrastructure.
ROD-IS capabilities in complex bridge and structural engineering have been developed from a highly professional staff with broad international experience and the drive and passion to search for efficient and innovative solutions. Depending on the project commission, ROD-IS clients include the European Commission, Conference of European Directorate of Roads (CEDR), national and international road, rail and water authorities and Internationally based small/medium enterprises.
In addition to providing specialist consultancy services, ROD-IS is deeply involved in European research and development projects through its participation in a number of European 7th Framework (FP7) and Funded Projects.
